Dalle Khursani, often simply called Dalle, is a heritage chilli of Nepal and the Indian Himalayan regions, especially Sikkim and Darjeeling. It has a long cultural history and is recognised as a GI (Geographical Indication) crop in India, protecting its regional identity.
Pods are small, round, cherry-like, ripening to a bright scarlet red. Heat is very hot, with a sharp, clean burn balanced by a fruity flavour. Traditionally, these chillies are used in pickles, chutneys, and hot sauces, playing a central role in Himalayan cuisine.
Plants are compact to medium-sized, 60–90 cm, and very productive, with clusters of small pods covering the plant.
Seeds germinate best at 26–30 °C, sprouting within 10–21 days. Plants take 90–100 days to maturity, cropping steadily through summer.
