Description

Chilli Name : CUMARI ALONGADO
Chilli Species : Chinense
Chilli Origin : Brazil
Chilli Heat : Hot

Cumari Alongado is a Brazilian chinense variety, part of the broader Cumari family that is highly prized in South America for its flavour. The word Alongado means “elongated,” and this strain is named for its distinctive pod shape.

Pods are slim and tapering, ripening from green to orange or red depending on the selection. Heat is hot, though not in the superhot category, and the flavour is typically fruity with floral notes, making it a staple in Brazilian cooking.

Plants are medium-sized, 60–90 cm tall, and highly productive, bearing long clusters of pods throughout the season. Their ornamental beauty — with dozens of slim pods hanging at once — makes them popular for both kitchen use and display.

Seeds germinate best at 28–30 °C, usually sprouting in 10–21 days. Plants take around 100 days to first harvest, with steady production into late summer.
