Description
Chilli Name : CHEIRO ROXA
Chilli Species : Chinense
Chilli Origin : Brazil
Chilli Heat : Medium
Cheiro Roxa is a striking member of the Brazilian “Cheiro” chilli family, known for its unique purple colouring and fragrant flavour. “Roxa” means purple in Portuguese, and this variety is instantly recognisable for its beautiful foliage and pods that ripen through shades of purple, pink, and finally to a rich red.
Heat is medium, allowing the fruity, floral chinense character to shine without overwhelming a dish. In Brazil, Cheiro chillies like Roxa are used in sauces, pickles, and traditional cooking where their aroma is as valued as their heat.
Plants are compact and highly ornamental, with purple-tinted leaves and stems that make them as attractive in the garden as they are useful in the kitchen. Height is typically 50–70 cm, with heavy yields across the season.
Seeds germinate best at 26–30 °C, sprouting within 10–21 days. Plants mature in 90–110 days and are well suited to pots and smaller spaces.
