Description
Chilli Name : CAYENNE MILD TURKISH
Chilli Species : Annuum
Chilli Origin : Turkey
Chilli Heat : Mild to Medium
Cayenne Mild Turkish is a regional strain of the cayenne family, originating from Turkey where long, slender chillies are a staple of local cooking. Unlike the sharper heat of standard cayennes, this variety delivers a milder, more approachable burn, making it popular for grilling, drying, and use in sauces and spice blends.
Pods are long and slim, averaging 12–15 cm, ripening from green to bright red. Flavour is clean and slightly sweet, with enough warmth to add depth without overwhelming a dish. In Turkish cuisine, these chillies are often dried whole for flakes or strung into ristras for storage.
Plants grow vigorously, usually 70–90 cm tall, with good yields across the season.
Seeds germinate best at 26–30 °C, sprouting within 10–21 days. Plants usually mature in around 90–100 days, cropping steadily throughout summer.
