Description
Chilli Name : BOLIVIAN BUMPY
Chilli Species : Chinense
Chilli Origin : Bolivia
Chilli Heat : HOT
The Bolivian Bumpy is a rare chinense variety from Bolivia, distinguished by its distinctive wrinkled “bumpy” pods and extreme heat. Unlike many modern breeder crosses, this one is tied to South American heritage, making it of particular interest to growers who value cultural origin alongside intensity.
Pods are small to medium in size, irregular and heavily wrinkled, ripening from green to deep red. Their gnarled surface gives the variety its name. Heat is hot level, sharp and immediate, with a fruity chinense undertone beneath the fire.
Plants are medium-sized for a chinense, typically 80–100 cm tall, with good pod set under warm conditions.
Seeds germinate best at 28–30 °C, sprouting in 10–21 days. Plants usually need around 100–120 days from sowing to harvest, with greenhouse or polytunnel cultivation recommended in cooler climates to ensure ripening.
