Description
Chilli Name : BIG MUSTARD MAMA
Chilli Species : Chinense
Chilli Origin : USA
Chilli Heat : Superhot
The Big Mustard Mama is a superhot chilli bred in the USA, part of the line of crosses created by Troy Primeaux (Primo), who also developed the 7 Pot Primo. It’s known for its distinctive mustard-coloured pods and blistering heat, marking it out as a collector’s variety within the superhot community.
Pods are large, gnarled, and heavily textured, ripening from green to an earthy mustard-brown tone. They deliver extreme superhot heat with the characteristic fruity, floral chinense flavour lurking beneath the fire. The mustard colour adds rarity value, as unusual pod colours are always sought after by growers.
Plants are vigorous and tall for a superhot, usually 100–130 cm, producing strong yields once established. They benefit from long, hot growing conditions to ripen fully.
Seeds germinate best at 28–30 °C, sprouting within 10–21 days. Plants require 100–120 days from sowing to harvest. In the UK, greenhouse or polytunnel cultivation is essential to bring pods to full maturity.
