Description
Chilli Name : CONGO YELLOW
Chilli Species : Chinense
Chilli Origin : Trinidad
Chilli Heat : Superhot
Congo Yellow is a classic superhot from Trinidad, closely related to the 7 Pot family of chillies. The name “Congo” refers to its larger pod size compared with standard 7 Pots, making it one of the heavier-bearing superhots in terms of flesh.
Pods are broad, blocky, and deeply wrinkled, ripening to a vibrant yellow. Heat is superhot, in the same class as other 7 Pots, though often noted as slightly less brutal than the red variants. Flavour is fruity and citrus-like, making it a popular choice for sauces where both flavour and intense heat are required.
Plants are medium to tall (90–120 cm), upright and vigorous, producing generous harvests of large pods across the season.
Seeds germinate best at 28–30 °C, with sprouts appearing in 10–21 days. Plants need 100–120 days from sowing to harvest, performing best under protection in cooler regions.
