Description

Chilli Name : PUSA SADABAHAR (GRIF 15502)
Chilli Species : Annuum
Chilli Origin : India
Chilli Heat : Medium

Pusa Sadabahar is a high-yielding Indian chilli cultivar developed by the Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI) in New Delhi. The name Sadabahar means “evergreen,” reflecting its long cropping season and ability to produce continuously throughout the year in warm climates. It’s registered in the USDA GRIN database as GRIF 15502, confirming its official breeding status.

Pods are slender and elongated, about 10–12 cm long, ripening from glossy green to bright red. The flavour is clean, slightly earthy and tangy, with medium heat typically ranging between 25,000–40,000 SHU. The variety is prized across India for fresh market use, drying, and pickling, offering consistent quality and strong colour retention when dried.

Plants are vigorous and upright, 70–90 cm tall, bred specifically for disease resistance and high fruit set under warm and humid conditions. It’s a reliable, productive variety that performs well both in open fields and protected cultivation.

Seeds germinate best at 26–30 °C, sprouting within 10–21 days. Plants mature in around 90–100 days and continue producing over an extended season.
