Description

Chilli Name : FRIARELLO DE NAPOLI
Chilli Species : Annuum
Chilli Origin : Italy (Naples, Campania)
Chilli Heat : Mild

Friarello de Napoli is a heritage Italian sweet pepper from the Naples region, part of the long-standing friggitello or friariello family grown throughout southern Italy. Known locally as Friarelli Napoletani, these chillies are an essential ingredient in Neapolitan cuisine, especially when pan-fried in olive oil and served as a side dish or with pasta.

Pods are long, slender and slightly wrinkled, ripening from green to red. They are best harvested while still green for their classic sweet flavour and tender texture. Heat is mild, often barely noticeable, making them ideal for everyday cooking.

Plants are strong and high yielding, reaching 70–90 cm, producing continuous flushes of pods through summer.

Seeds germinate best at 26–28 °C, sprouting in 10–21 days. Plants reach maturity in around 80–90 days, cropping heavily in warm conditions.
