The California Wonder Golden is a sweet pepper variety developed from the original California Wonder line. First selected in the USA, it offers the same reliable yields and blocky, thick-walled fruits but ripens to a golden yellow instead of red. It remains a popular choice for growers seeking a colourful twist on one of the world’s most famous bell peppers.
Pods are large and block-shaped, around 8–10 cm across, with thick flesh and juicy, sweet flavour. They ripen from green to a bright golden yellow, adding colour and sweetness to salads, cooking, and stuffing.
Plants grow to 60–90 cm tall, branching well and producing generous harvests of golden peppers through the summer season.
Seeds germinate best at 25–28 °C, sprouting in 7–14 days. Plants take 75–90 days from sowing to maturity, cropping steadily across the season.
