Description
Chilli Name : BIRDSEYE ITALICO
Chilli Species : Annuum
Chilli Origin : Italy (Birdseye lineage)
Chilli Heat : Hot
The Birdseye Italico is an Italian take on the classic Birdseye chilli, reflecting how the type spread from Africa and Asia into southern Europe and adapted to local growing conditions.
This strain keeps the classic Birdseye traits — compact growth, upright pods, and fiery heat — but is known for its success in Mediterranean climates and traditional Italian cooking.
Pods are small and slender, typically 2–3 cm long, upright on the plant, ripening from green to bright red. Their heat is sharp and penetrating, delivering the clean, fiery bite associated with the Birdseye family.
Plants are compact to medium in size, generally 40–70 cm tall, bushy and productive. They produce dense clusters of upright pods, making them both visually striking and consistent croppers.
Seeds germinate best at 25–30 °C, sprouting in 10–21 days. Plants mature in 80–100 days from sowing and will crop continuously once established.
