Description
Chilli Name : BIRDSEYE BABY
Chilli Species : Annuum
Chilli Origin : Africa (Birdseye lineage)
Chilli Heat : Very Hot
The Birdseye Baby is a compact variation of the traditional African Birdseye chilli, a type introduced to Africa by the Portuguese in the 16th century. While it shares the same fiery heat and upright pod style as the standard Birdseye, this strain is noted for its smaller plant size and dense cropping habit.
Pods are small and slender, typically around 2 cm long, held upright on the plant, and ripen from green to bright red. Heat is immediate and intense, with a clean, sharp flavour.
Plants are naturally compact, usually 30–50 cm tall, with a bushy structure that produces pods in tight clusters. This growth habit makes it easier to manage in pots or smaller spaces, while still delivering strong yields.
Seeds germinate best at 25–30 °C, sprouting in 10–21 days. Plants usually mature within 80–100 days from sowing and will crop steadily throughout the season.
