Description

Chilli Name : AMASHITO WILD
Chilli Species : Annuum (wild type)
Chilli Origin : Mexico
Chilli Heat : Hot

The Amashito Wild is a traditional Mexican wild chilli, considered a relative of the bird’s eye–type annuums. It grows naturally in the wild across regions of Mexico and has long been part of rural food traditions, where the small, fiery pods are used fresh or dried to bring heat and flavour to everyday cooking.

Pods are very small, typically 1–2 cm long, upright on the plant, and ripen from green to bright red. Despite their size, they carry intense heat with a sharp, pungent flavour, making them ideal for sauces, salsas, and drying into powders.

Plants are compact and hardy, often under 50 cm tall, with a natural bushy habit. As a wild variety, they are highly resilient and can withstand tougher growing conditions than many domesticated types.

Seeds germinate best at 25–30 °C, sprouting in 10–21 days. Plants usually take 80–100 days from sowing to harvest, cropping heavily with clusters of small, upright pods.
