Description
Chilli Name: TOBAGO SEASONING
Chilli Species: Chinense
Chilli Origin: Trinidad & Tobago
Chilli Heat: Mild
The Tobago Seasoning or Tobago Bell is a Caribbean sweet pepper from Trinidad & Tobago, associated with seasoning pepper types derived from Scotch Bonnet lineage. It is grown for its rich aroma and flavour with little to no heat.
Pods are bonnet-shaped with a flattened, lobed form, closely resembling mild Scotch Bonnet types. They ripen from green to red and have relatively thick walls, making them suitable for stuffing, sauces, and fresh use.
Flavour is rich, fruity, and aromatic with minimal heat (0–500 SHU), placing it in the Mild category. It is widely used in Caribbean cooking where traditional chinense flavour is required without strong heat.
Plants are medium-sized and productive, performing best in warm conditions. They produce a steady yield of pods and are suited to greenhouse or sheltered outdoor growing in cooler climates.
This variety aligns closely with Tobago Seasoning-type peppers, a recognised group of Caribbean Capsicum chinense varieties selected for flavour rather than heat.
Germination temperature 28–30 °C. See our Water and Feed Guides for advise.
Chilli Seeds Qty is 5 per pack unless stated.
