Description

Chilli Name: TETENYI HOSSZU HEGYES
Chilli Species: Annuum
Chilli Origin: Hungary
Chilli Heat: Mild

The Tetenyi Hosszu Hegyes is a traditional Hungarian sweet pepper, with the name translating to “long pointed” — a direct reference to its pod shape. It is a well-established type within Hungarian pepper cultivation, valued for its versatility and reliable production.

Pods are long, slender, and distinctly pointed, typically reaching 12–18 cm in length. They develop from pale yellow or waxy green to red at full maturity. The walls are moderately thick, making them suitable for frying, stuffing, and fresh use.

Flavour is mild and sweet with no noticeable heat (0–500 SHU), placing it in the Mild category. It is widely used in Hungarian cuisine, both fresh and cooked, and is particularly suited to traditional dishes.

Plants are medium-sized and productive, producing a consistent yield of elongated fruits over the growing season. They perform well in open-ground cultivation and under protection, benefiting from warm growing conditions.

This variety is part of Hungary’s long-standing pepper-growing tradition, where elongated, mild peppers are central to both fresh consumption and cooking. It represents a stable, open-pollinated type rather than a modern hybrid.

Germination temperature 28–30 °C. See our Water and Feed Guides for advise.
Chilli Seeds Qty is 5 per pack unless stated.
