Description
Chilli Name : AJÍ MANGO x AJÍ AYUOYO
Chilli Species : Baccatum
Chilli Origin : Finland – South America
Chilli Heat : Medium
The Ají Mango x Ají Ayuoyo is a modern hybrid created by Jukka Fatalii in Finland, combining the fruity sweetness of Ají Mango with the regional character of Ají Ayuoyo. It draws from classic South American baccatum heritage but represents Fatalii’s innovative breeding work, producing a unique balance of tropical flavour and steady heat.
Pods are elongated and medium-sized, typically 6–9 cm long, ripening from green to a golden-orange with a touch of red. Flavour is fruity, tangy, and slightly earthy, delivering medium heat that works well fresh, dried, or in sauces.
Plants are vigorous and productive, usually 90–120 cm tall, with long-season cropping typical of baccatum. They thrive in warm conditions, making them best suited to greenhouse or polytunnel cultivation in the UK.
Seeds germinate best at 25–28 °C, sprouting in 10–21 days. Plants take 90–110 days from sowing to harvest, with pods ripening steadily from mid-summer into autumn.
