Also known as the Woman of Willendorf, this variety takes its name after an 11.1 cm (4 3/8 inches) high statuette of a female figure. It was discovered in 1908 by archaeologist Josef Szombathy at a paleolithic site near Willendorf, a village in Lower Austria near the city of Krems
.Venus of Willendorf is a novelty chilli of Capsicum annuum, named after the famous prehistoric figurine due to its unusually round, pleated fruit. The pods mature to red and have a mild to sweet flavour, making them more ornamental than culinary in focus. While its exact breeding origin is unclear, it’s cultivated mainly for its curiosity value and visual appeal rather than heat or yield.
