Description
Chilli Name: TRUPTI
Chilli Species: Annuum
Chilli Origin: India
Chilli Heat: Medium
Trupti is a cayenne-type chilli associated with Indian cultivation, grown for its elongated pods and reliable heat. It is recognised as a regional or named selection rather than a widely standardised commercial cultivar.
Pods are slender, elongated, and typically 10–15 cm (4–6 inches) in length. They are pendant in habit and often slightly curved, sometimes forming a hook-like shape. Fruits ripen from green to red and have relatively thin walls, making them suitable for drying and general culinary use.
Flavour is direct with a moderate, building heat. It fits within the Medium category (5,000–30,000 SHU), consistent with cayenne-type chillies used in everyday cooking.
Plants are productive and suited to warm growing conditions, producing a steady yield of elongated pods over the season. They perform well in both open-ground cultivation and larger containers.
This variety appears in Indian growing contexts as a named type, but no formal breeder or stabilised cultivar record is widely documented. It should be considered a regional cayenne-type selection rather than a fully standardised variety.
Germination temperature 28–30 °C. See our Water and Feed Guides for advise.
