Description

Chilli Name: TASSILI PIPAL
Chilli Species: Annuum
Chilli Origin: Algeria (Tassili n'Ajjer region)
Chilli Heat: Hot

The Tassili Pipal is a regional chilli variety originating from the Tassili n'Ajjer area of Algeria in North Africa. It is a traditional type associated with local cultivation, valued for both its heat and adaptability to arid growing conditions.

Pods are elongated and slightly curved, tapering to a pointed tip. They mature from green to red and typically have relatively thin walls, making them suitable for drying and traditional culinary use.

Flavour is direct and pungent with a clear, sharp heat. It is generally regarded as a hot variety, though precise Scoville Heat Unit data is not widely standardised. It is used in regional cooking where dried chillies form part of flavour bases and spice blends.

Plants are adapted to warm, dry climates and produce a steady yield of pods under suitable conditions. They perform well in full sun and benefit from well-drained soils, reflecting their origin in a semi-arid environment.

This variety is linked to North African chilli cultivation and reflects traditional regional pepper types rather than modern commercial breeding. Its name derives from the Tassili region, indicating its geographical association.

Germination temperature 28–30 °C. See our Water and Feed Guides for advise.
Chilli Seeds Qty is 5 per pack unless stated.
