This hybridised cultivar was developed at the New Mexico State University in 1988 by Drs.Bosland, Iglesias, and Tanksley. Its cousins are the Numex Sunrise and Numex Sunset. The pods are 4-6in long and turn brown at maturity. They are used primarily as ornamental chiles. All three cultivars originated from a cross between 'Permagreen' and 'New Mexico 6-4'. They are similar in pungency to 'New Mexico 6-4'.
