Chilli Origin : South America
Chilli Heat : Medium
The Ají Pineapple is a South American baccatum named for its distinct fruity flavour with a pineapple-like sweetness. It’s a modern favourite among growers because it combines ornamental looks with a tangy, tropical taste that stands out in salsas and sauces.
Pods are small to medium, elongated with a pointed end, typically 5–7 cm long. They ripen from green to a bright golden yellow, delivering a crisp, fruity flavour with medium heat. The pineapple notes make them especially popular for fresh use and tropical-style hot sauces.
Plants are vigorous and upright, usually 90–120 cm tall, producing heavy yields across the season. Like many baccatums, they thrive in warm, sunny conditions and are particularly productive when given space to branch.
Seeds germinate best at 25–28 °C, sprouting within 10–21 days. Plants usually take 90–110 days from sowing to harvest, producing consistent crops from summer into autumn.
