Species Annuum Origin France Heat Unknown A Pre-1900 African American heirloom with white & purple mottled leaves and 'normal' 3/4" pendent purple to red fruits; stems purple-black; flowers purple. Oral history suggests that the variety originates from from catering family of P. Albert Dutrieuille. Dutrieulle brought it with them from Haiti. Was briefly offered in the 1890's by Philadelphia seed houses as 'Black Nubian', and mentioned in late 1800's cookbooks.
