Description
Species Annuum Origin Ghana Heat Mild CRI-Mako-Ntoos is a mildly pungent variety developed by the AVRDC. It is often used as a substitute for tomato when tomato is not available at the market (the name "Mako-Ntoos" literally means "pepper-tomato". The mild pungency of this variety may also encourage greater consumption of pepper, which is noted for its high contents of vitamin C and other micronutrients. Micronutrient-malnutrition is rampant in Ghana, as vegetable consumption is only 31.6 kg/capita/year, less than half of what is recommended for a healthy diet.
