Inca Red Drop is a beautiful Peruvian baccatum variety, treasured for its jewel-like pods, high yields, and bright, fruity flavour. It’s one of the few chillies that blends ornamental appeal with real culinary depth — a chilli that looks stunning and tastes even better.
Pods are small and teardrop-shaped (2–3 cm), hanging delicately from long stems. They ripen from pale green to deep ruby red, resembling tiny berries. Heat is medium, around 20,000–30,000 SHU, with a crisp citrus edge and subtle sweetness that works perfectly in fresh salsas, ceviche, and hot sauces. The aroma is lightly floral, a hallmark of the baccatum species.
Plants grow tall (90–120 cm), branching widely with elegant drooping pods. Extremely productive and easy to grow, Inca Red Drop performs well in pots, greenhouses, or open ground in warm summers.
Seeds germinate best at 28–30 °C, sprouting in 10–21 days. Plants mature in around 100–110 days, rewarding growers with heavy crops of bright red pods throughout the season.
